Taking Time to Smell the Roses
This week, as I walked through a local street festival called Marda Gras, I found myself pausing to admire a cluster of late-summer roses.
It made me realize how easy it is to rush through our days, focused only on the next task or the next goal or that next piece of content you have to publish, and forget to notice what’s blooming right under our noses.
Pausing, even for just a moment, can make all the difference.
In life and in business, it’s those intentional pauses that allow us to reflect, reset, and see what truly matters.
And my tip for you today – is about pauses in video messaging.
We need to give viewers time to process our message.
Catch their attention and provide value and give them time to think.
I do a fair bit of editing of my own videos and sometimes removing the ums and ahs. And I often remove all those pauses between phrases. I’ll have to rethink doing so.
The plan today is to buy bread.
Somewhat kidding aside, isn’t it time to start experiencing your digital life in semi-retirement?
My real daily weekday plan is:
- track my stats
- look for comments from my posts
- write an email to you – if you are on my list – first link in the sidebar to join –
- Produce the video I made in the park yesterday and get it all processed and published to YouTube and other places
So, by noon I expect to have that all done, mixed in with making breakfast, washing dishes and showering up for a fresh start to the day.
The rest of the day is for me – getting outside – buying bread – goin’ for a hot tub/swim – walking the neighbourhood.
With all that – who has time for doom-scrolling?
You and me both. 🙂
Enjoy your day,
Robert Klein
