Document Your Journey Online,
A Quiet Nudge I Almost Missed
Document your journey online and you’ll hear plenty of advice about sharing everything.
But during a recent Wednesday Zoom coaching session, I caught a quiet reminder that stopped me cold.
Wait a second…
Is that me he’s talking about?
It wasn’t a call-out.
Just a line repeated a few times.
Anything inside the Internet Profits Academy Skool platform is for learning.
Not for public sharing.
No screenshots.
No member faces.
That line landed harder than I expected.
My Normal Note-Taking Habit
During live sessions, I have a routine.
- I capture slides
- I write context in my own words
- I store everything in Microsoft OneNote
- I do it to learn better and remember more
That system works for me.
It helps me connect dots.
It helps me explain ideas clearly later.
But as Dean spoke, something clicked.
In my excitement to share what I’m learning…
I may have shared more than I should have.
Not on purpose.
Not carelessly.
Just enthusiasm.
The Real Lesson I Took From It
This wasn’t about rules.
It was about trust.
Sharing your journey matters.
Documenting what you’re learning matters.
The way you share matters too.
There’s a clear difference between:
- Explaining a lesson in your own words
- Showing someone else’s private space
One builds trust.
The other can quietly weaken it.
That distinction is easy to miss when you’re fired up and moving fast.
A Simple Guideline Worth Keeping
This moment gave me a pause.
A useful one.
Here’s what I’m carrying forward:
- Share insights, not screens
- Share lessons, not logins
- Share progress, not private spaces
Your experience is enough.
You don’t need proof shots.
You don’t need insider visuals.
You don’t need to show everything to help someone move ahead.
Clarity often shows up as restraint.
Why This Matters If You’re Documenting Your Journey
Many people hold back because they think:
“I don’t have enough to share yet.”
That’s rarely true.
If you’re one step ahead of someone else, you already have value.
Just be mindful about where that value comes from.
Your voice.
Your words.
Your lived experience.
That’s what people connect with.
One Final Thought
I’m glad this landed early for me.
It was a quiet nudge.
Easy to miss.
Worth listening to.
If you’re documenting your journey too, this is a good moment to pause and ask:
What am I sharing…
and why?
The perfect time is now.
